Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Dimly Lit Vintage (ABN 87 701 263 747). These terms apply to every purchase from dimlylit.com.au. By placing an order, you agree to them, so please take a moment to read them through.

1. Vintage means pre-loved

Every piece we sell is vintage, antique or second-hand and has had a life before it reached us. Expect signs of age and use, such as patina, light scratches, fading, small chips or marks. We think that’s part of the charm.

We describe and photograph each piece as honestly as we can and point out any notable flaws. Please read descriptions carefully and look closely at the photos and email us if you’d like more pictures or measurements before you buy. Colours can look slightly different from screen to screen.

2. Vintage lighting

Where a listing says a light has been rewired and tested by a licensed electrician, it’s ready to use with standard Australian power.

Where a listing says a light is sold as a decorative piece, or needs rewiring, it must not be connected to power until a licensed electrician has rewired and tested it.

Please use globes no stronger than the wattage stated in the listing or marked on the fitting.

3. One of a kind

Almost everything we sell is the only one we have. If two people order the same piece at the same moment, the first completed order gets it. We’ll refund the other buyer in full.

4. Prices and payment

  • All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD).
  • Dimly Lit Vintage is not registered for GST, so no GST is included or charged.
  • Shipping is extra unless the listing says otherwise. See our Shipping Policy for how it works.
  • Payment is due when you order, using the methods offered at checkout. If you pay by bank transfer, we’ll hold your piece for 48 hours while we wait for payment. After that it may go back on sale.

5. Shipping and pickup

Shipping costs, dispatch times and delivery are covered in our Shipping Policy. 

6. Returns and refunds

We don’t offer refunds for change of mind, so please choose carefully and ask us anything before you buy.

This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. In the unlikely event a piece arrives damaged, is significantly different from its description, or has a fault we didn’t disclose, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with a video/photos. We’ll work with you on a fix, which is usually a refund because our pieces can’t be replaced.

7. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for any loss arising from a piece being used in a way it wasn’t designed for, or from the normal wear and character of vintage items that we disclosed. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Photos and content

All photos and written descriptions on this site belong to Dimly Lit Vintage. Please don’t reuse them without asking us first.

9. Privacy

We only use your details to process your order and stay in touch about it. See our Privacy Policy for more.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website when you place your order is the one that applies.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
